Interested individuals and organisations are invited to provide feedback on the Goldfields-Esperance Regional Drought Resilience Plan, with the public comment period opening today.

The Goldfields-Esperance Regional Drought Resilience Plan builds on climate resilience priorities identified by the region's stakeholders and has a specific focus on enhancing water security for communities, industries and landscapes.

Led by the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission in partnership with Goldfields Voluntary Regional Organisation of Councils, the Plan identifies practical actions to increase the region's preparedness for drought conditions and enable the Goldfields-Esperance region to respond proactively to a range of future climate scenarios.

The Regional Drought Resilience program is funded jointly through the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. The Future Drought Fund provides a source of funding to assist regional communities to become more prepared for and resilient to the impacts of drought.

The Plan is available to view at www.gedc.wa.gov.au/our-programs/goldfields-esperance-regional-drought-resilience-plan and feedback can be provided on the website or via email at climatefutures@gedc.wa.gov.au

The public comment period is open until 4pm on Tuesday, 15 July.
